Major Completed Actions

NASA completed all awards of Science, Exploration, Cross-Agency Support, and Aeronautics contracts and cooperative agreements in accordance with applicable Program Plans and Recovery Act provisions, and more than 83% of funds appropriated have been disbursed for those projects.

Aeronautics: Aviation Safety Program at the Langley Research Center (LaRC), completed operational support for Airborne Subscale Transport Aircraft Research (AirSTAR) flight operations, including six Unmanned Aerial System (UAS) pilot proficiency flights; also at the Langley Research Center (LARC), completed the Smart Eye motion capability assessment for the Integrated Intelligent Flight Deck project under Aviation Safety.

Science: At the Dryden Flight Research Center (DFRC), for Airborne Sciences, completed and accepted the Uninhabited Aerial Vehicle Synthetic Aperture Radar (UAVSAR) pod; and installed components for the Global Hawk Mobile Operations Facility (GHMOF) at the L-3 facilities in Boston, MA.

Cross-Agency Support for Hurricane Damage Repair Projects at the Johnson Space Center (JSC): NASA continues to support a performance audit on the Cross-Agency Support JSC Hurricane Repair activities which began on August 31st.

Planned Actions

NASA will continue quality assurance of quarterly recipient reporting in March.

Aeronautics: ARC installation of the new evacuation side line filter to be completed in March and a functional test of the air dryer vessels will be performed in late February for the Aeronautics Test Program; Supersonics at GRC for fabrication of the wind tunnel models and test planning will continue in March.

Science: Continue Research Science, Virtual Terrestrial Observation and Prediction System (V-TOPS), sensor network installations in California; and Venture Class flight planning for the Carbon in Arctic Reservoirs Vulnerability Experiment (CARVE). The Airborne Science Cryospheric Evolution of the Central Antarctic Plate (ICECAP) flights for boundary conditions, and the Airborne Microwave Observatory of Subcanopy and Subsurface (AirMOSS) radar performance trade study, mechanical configuration and GeoSAR antenna performance, will continue in March. Due to technical difficulties, the Glory Observatory launch is now planned for March 4.

Cross-Agency Support for Hurricane Damage Repair Projects at the Johnson Space Center (JSC): All CAS restoration projects are completed; no additional repairs are planned.

Exploration: The WFF Horizontal Integration Facility ribbon cutting schedule is TBD. The CCDev Abort system hardware demonstration engine assembly and Emergency Detection System (EDS) demonstration report and review will continue in March.
