Major Completed Actions

NASA completed all awards of Science, Exploration, Cross-Agency Support, and Aeronautics contracts and cooperative agreements in accordance with applicable Program Plans and Recovery Act provisions, and more than 77% of funds appropriated have been disbursed for those projects.

Exploration: At Stennis Space Center (SSC), the final painting of the air compressor was completed; installation of pumps on three of five LOX barges have been completed and two LOX transfer test were conducted in support of the RS-68 test program; in addition, the A-2 test stand liquid hydrogen transfer line cold shock test was successfully completed.

Science: At Ames Research Center (ARC), the Virtual Terrestrial Observation and Prediction System (VTOPS) prototype hardware/software virtualization infrastructure data processing continues to produce positive results for improved scalability of access to NASA models, data and supercomputing resources for the Earth science community. At the Goddard Space Flight Center (GSFC), both the Fibertek and Lockheed Ice Cloud and land Elevation Satellite 2 (ICESat-2) Master Oscillator Power Amplifier (MOPA) Laser System brassboard laser systems were successfully delivered. At the Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL), the Portable Remote Imaging Spectrometer (PRISM) instrument telescope mirror 1 was bonded, and preparations were made for mirror 2.

Aeronautics: At Ames Research Center (ARC), the installation of compressor intercooler tube bundles and replacement of desiccant in the air dryer vessels was completed, as was the analysis of the FAA Traffic Collision Avoidance System software in the NAS Modeling and Simulation.

Cross-Agency Support for Hurricane Damage Repair Projects at the Johnson Space Center (JSC): NASA continues to support a performance audit on the Cross-Agency Support JSC Hurricane Repair activities which began on August 31st.

Planned Actions

Exploration: Over the next month, the WFF Horizontal Integration Facility will be completed, as well as the LOX barge and tug refurbishments and check-out at SSC. The CCDev Nevada Dream Chaser engineering test article structure proof testing and the Paragon Air Revitalization System engineering development unit integrated ground test & final report are scheduled for mid-December.

Science: In December, the Virtual Terrestrial Observation and Prediction System (VTOPS) results will be presented at the American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers (ASABE) National Irrigation Conference and the American Geophysical Union (AGU). The Airborne Microwave Observatory of Subcanopy and Subsurface (AirMOSS) radar performance trade study, mechanical configuration and GeoSAR antenna performance, will continue through December.

Aeronautics: ARC replacement of desiccant materials in the air dryer vessels will be completed in December, as well as Phase 1 construction items on the PSL Ice Crystal Capability Project at GRC. Supersonics at GRC, fabrication of the wind tunnel models and test planning will continue.

Cross-Agency Support for Hurricane Damage Repair Projects at the Johnson Space Center (JSC): Completion of the Hangar E280 project is anticipated in December.
