NASA Office of Inspector General Audits: NASA continues to close out requests for clarifying data that support the OIG effort on summarizing the results of the site visits, and audits conducted on the contract/cooperative agreement awards, in October through December. NASA is responding to an audit on the Agency's process for reviewing data quality of the recipient reports, for "significant errors and material omissions."

Cross‐Agency Support for Hurricane Damage Repair Projects at the Johnson Space Center (JSC): JSC reviewed safety performance to date on both roof and loggia packages to determine if additional areas of emphasis are warranted.

Science: Several awards were made at the Ames Research Center (ARC) for Earth Science activities, including under Research and Analysis, to upgrade the Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) Airborne Simulator, a task order under Airborne Science for a science aircraft interface upgrade, and a contract modifcation focused on irrigation optimization. Additional task orders were awarded at the Dryden Flight Research Center (DFRC) for the Advanced Technology Global Hawk Laser Vegetation Imaging Sensor (LVIS) and Global Ozone Lidar Demonstrator (GOLD) projects, and an additional task at the Goddard Space Flight Center (GSFC) for scientific computing activities.

Exploration: The Wallops Flight Facility (WFF) Horizontal Integration Facility 543 piles have been fabricated and delivered, the slab for the building is being completed and the building and overhead door plans have been released for production.

Aeronautics: A NASA Research Announcement (NRA) at the Glenn Research Center (GRC) in the Fundamental Aeronautics Program resulted in a second contract awarded on Low Nitrogen Oxide (NOx) Combustor Technologies. Also at GRC a contract modification was awarded under the Aeronautics Test Program for faciilty upgrades to the Icing Research Tunnel Refrigeration System. At the Ames Research Center (ARC), under the Aviation Safety Program, a contract modification was awarded to define, integrate & conduct initial research efforts in verification and validation (V&V) of flight critical systems. Several contract modifications were made at the Langley Research Center (LARC) for additional facility upgrades tasks to the 14x22 Subsonic Tunnel and to the National Transonic Facility, within the Aeronautics Test Program, and one under the Airspace Systems Program to conduct deeper assessments of safety issues and risks for NextGen concepts.

Major
Planned Actions

NASA intends to continue soliciting for Science, Exploration, and Aeronautics contracts and cooperative agreement proposals in accordance with applicable Program Plans, and then start work on projects in accordance with Recovery Act provisions.

NASA Office of Inspector General Audits: The NASA Management Office (NMO) at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) is preparing for an OIG audit in late‐March/early‐April.

Cross‐Agency Support for Hurricane Damage Repair Projects at the Johnson Space Center (JSC): In March, JSC intends to issue a task order for additional construction project integration and schedule support.

Science: Several Earth Science procurements are planned for March, including various research investments in Scientific Computing, the Landsat Data Continuity Mission (LDCM), Ice, Cloud, and land Elevation Satellite II (ICESAT 2), Applied Science and Airborne Science.

Exploration: The award of two remaining Space Act Agreements (SAAs) for the Commercial Crew Development is expected to be finalized in March, as well as additional tasks for the Kennedy Space Center (KSC) launch infrastructure activities, and for the Stennis Space Center (SSC) E100 test stand activities; the Commercial Crew Cargo Common Docking Adapter contract mod is anticipated to be definitized by late‐March/early‐April.

Aeronautics: Several procurements are still on schedule for award in March and April including additional NRA proposals for Fundamental Aeronautics, Aviation Safety, and Airspace Systems.
