Major Completed Actions

NASA Office of Inspector General Audits: The first reports on the OIG’s review of NASA’s implementation of the requirements for development of the Agency-wide and Program Recovery Plans are completed and were posted on Recovery.gov.

Aeronautics Mission Directorate: Awards include additional tasks for the Glenn Research Center (GRC) Supersonics project for testing of a low boom Supersonic Inlet in the 8 x 6 Supersonic Wind Tunnel, and also a Small Business award at GRC of the Aeronautics Test Program (ATP) facility upgrade contract for High-altitude ice crystal generation in Cell 3 at the Propulsion Systems Laboratory (PSL).

Science Mission Directorate: Awarded funding for additional effort on the Soil Moisture Active-Passive (SMAP) project at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL). Additionally, work has been completed on both James Webb Space Telescope (JWST) Recovery Act efforts.

Cross-Agency Support for Hurricane Damage Repair Projects at the Johnson Space Center (JSC): Awards include additional tasks for environmental support services for disposal of PCB-contaminated caulking for the precast exposed aggregate faced (PEAF) work. JSC also received a proposal from the Building 9 South Roof repair work package contractor for a modification to correct specifications for the project and a technical evaluation is being performed.

Planned Actions

NASA intends to continue soliciting for Science, Exploration, and Aeronautics contracts and cooperative agreement proposals in accordance with applicable Program Plans, and then start work on projects in accordance with Recovery Act provisions. Phase I Small Business Innovative Research (SBIR) are planned for later in January and into early February.

NASA Office of Inspector General Audits: The NASA Management Office (NMO) at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) is preparing for an OIG audit in late January or early February.

Aeronautics Mission Directorate: Several procurements are still on schedule for award in January, including the Low Nitrogen Oxide (NOx) Combustor Technologies NRA, and additional NRA proposals are also expected during January.

Science Mission Directorate: Several Earth Science procurements are planned for January, including various research investments in Scientific Computing, the Landsat Data Continuity Mission (LDCM), Applied Science and Airborne Science.

Cross-Agency Support for Hurricane Damage Repair Projects at the Johnson Space Center (JSC): In mid-January, JSC intends to issue a contract mod for increased requirements for personal protective equipment, material and equipment on the 8(a) PEAF panel repair work package and expects the final 8(a) sole-source contract issuance for barge dock safing work.

Exploration Mission Directorate: Space Act Agreements (SSAs) for the Commercial Crew Development are planned for award in early January; the Commercial Crew Cargo Common Docking Adapter contract mod is anticipated to be finalized at the end of January; and, award of procurements for the Wallops Flight Facility (WFF) Horizontal Integration Facility (HIF) plumbing and electrical work packages is expected in mid-January.
