Major Completed Actions

Science Mission Directorate: NASA is in the final stages of developing a reimbursable Space Act Agreement between the Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) and the National Ecological Observatory Network, Inc. (NEON, Inc.) utilizing National Science Foundation (NSF) Recovery funding to develop an Imaging Spectrometer Design Verification Unit (NISDVU).

Cross-Agency Support for Hurricane Damage Repair Projects at the Johnson Space Center (JSC): JSC conducted contract administration activities on Building 9 South Roof repair contract (Work Package 9). JSC also completed review of site-specific safety and health plans for the option projects on Roof and Loggia Package 2, and received a revised cost proposal from the JSC support services contract for disposal of PCB-contaminated caulking in support of the PEAF Panel repair work package.

Exploration Mission Directorate: The Kennedy Space Center (KSC) awarded the Commercial Crew Enabling Initiatives upgrades to Launch Complex 40 activities.

NASA Office of Inspector General Audits: The first draft reports on the OIG’s review of NASA’s implementation of the requirements for development of the Agency-wide and Program Recovery Plans, have been provided to the Agency for comment and technical corrections.

Planned Actions

NASA intends to continue soliciting for Science, Exploration, and Aeronautics contracts and cooperative agreement proposals in accordance with applicable Program Plans, and then start work on projects in accordance with Recovery Act provisions.

Aeronautics Mission Directorate: Several procurements are still on schedule for award in January, including the Low Nitrogen Oxide (NOx) Combustor Technologies NRA, and additional NRA proposals are also expected during January.

Science Mission Directorate: Several Earth Science procurements are planned for January, including various research investments in Scientific Computing, the Landsat Data Continuity Mission (LDCM), Applied Science and Airborne Science.

Cross-Agency Support for Hurricane Damage Repair Projects at the Johnson Space Center (JSC): JSC intends to issue notice to proceed for all options on Roof and Loggia Package 2, and complete Bldg 2 South carpet work package by the end of December. In mid-January, JSC intends to issue a contract mod for increased requirements for personal protective equipment, material and equipment on the 8(a) PEAF panel repair work package and expects the final 8(a) sole-source contract issuance for barge dock safing work.

Exploration Mission Directorate: Space Act Agreements (SSAs) for the Commercial Crew Development are planned for award in early January. The Commercial Crew Cargo Common Docking Adapter contract mod is anticipated to be finalized at the end of January.

NASA Office of Inspector General Audits: The NASA Management Office (NMO) at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) is preparing for an OIG audit in late January or early February.
