Major Completed Actions

Science Mission Directorate: Awards include additional tasks on the Global Precipitation Monitor (GPM) Mission for the GPM Microwave Imager (GMI 1) Instrument, the Decadal Survey Missions and the Landsat Data Continuity Mission (LDCM).

Aeronautics Mission Directorate: Awards include a NASA Research Announcement (NRA) award for the Aviation Safety Program's Vehicle Level Reasoning and an NRA for the Supersonics Program at the Langley Research Center (LARC).

Cross-Agency Support for Hurricane Damage Repair Projects at the Johnson Space Center (JSC): JSC issued modification 2 to the precast exposed aggregate faced (PEAF) panel repair contract to increase requirements for safety expertise/personnel. The cost proposal was received from the JSC support services contract for disposal of PCB-contaminated caulking in support of the PEAF Panel repair work package.

Exploration Mission Directorate: The plumbing bid package was opened for the the Wallops Flight Facility (WFF) Horizontal Integration Facility’s (HIF) building, and technical evaluation of the Common Docking Adapter proposal is ongoing as well.

Planned Actions

NASA intends to continue soliciting for Science, Exploration, and Aeronautics contracts and grant proposals in accordance with applicable Program Plans, and then start work on projects in accordance with Recovery Act provisions.

Science Mission Directorate: Several Earth Science missions are planned for January, including Research and Analysis (R&A), Scientific Computing, the Landsat Data Continuity Mission (LDCM), Applied Science and Airborne Science.

Aeronautics Mission Directorate: Several procurements are still on schedule for award in January, including the Low Nitrogen Oxide (NOx) Combustor Technologies NRA, and additional NRA proposals are also expected during December and January.

Cross-Agency Support for Hurricane Damage Repair Projects at the Johnson Space Center (JSC): JSC intends to issue notice to proceed for all options on Roof and Loggia Package 2 in December, complete Bldg 2 South carpet work package by the end of December, issue contract mod for increased requirements for personal protective equipment, material and equipment on the 8(a) PEAF panel repair work package by mid-January and expects the final 8(a) sole-source contract issuance for barge dock safing work in mid-January.

Exploration Mission Directorate: Several procurements are planned in December, including outrigging for the Stennis Space Center (SSC) A-3 test stand and Launch Complex 40 activities at the Kennedy Space Center (KSC). Space Act Agreements (SSAs) for the Commercial Crew Development are planned for award in December or early January, and WFF final HIF awards are anticipated in early January. The Commercial Crew Cargo Common Docking Adapter contract mod is anticipated the end of January.

NASA Office of Inspector General Audits: The NASA Management Office (NMO) at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) is preparing for an OIG audit in January.
