Major Completed Actions

Science Mission Directorate: Awards include additional tasks for the Earth Science Soil Moisture Active-Passive (SMAP) project at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL), the Langley Research Center (LARC) Advanced Technology Global Ozone Lidar Demonstrator (GOLD) project, as well as additional tasks for two projects at the Goddard Space Flight Center (GSFC), the Global Modeling and Data Assimilation Office (GMAO) project and the Ice, Cloud and Land Elevation Satellite II (ICESat 2) project.

Aeronautics Mission Directorate: Awards include additional tasks on the NexGen Concepts and Technology Development project at the Langley Research Center (LARC).

Cross-Agency Support for Hurricane Damage Repair Projects at the Johnson Space Center (JSC): JSC issued the notice to proceed on the Bldg 9 South roof repair work package and received the cost proposal for the requirements change for the precast exposed aggregate faced (PEAF) Panel Waterproofing work package.

Exploration Mission Directorate: Contract solicitations continue in support of the Stennis Space center A-3 test stand activities. Additionally, bid packages for the Wallops Flight Facility (WFF) Horizontal Integration Facility’s (HIF) building and mega doors were opened and the plumbing package pre-bid meeting was held. Bid packages were also received on the Phase 1 activities for the Kennedy Space Center (KSC) Launch Complex 40. Technical evaluation of the Docking Adapter proposal is ongoing as well.

NASA Office of Inspector General Audits: The NASA Office of Inspector General concluded audits at the Ames Research Center (ARC) on multiple contract modifications and the first cooperative agreement, awarded with Recovery funds.

Planned Actions

NASA intends to continue soliciting for Science, Exploration, and Aeronautics contracts and grant proposals in accordance with applicable Program Plans, and then start work on projects in accordance with Recovery Act provisions.

Science Mission Directorate: Several procurements are still on schedule for award in December for Earth Science missions, including for the Global Precipitation Monitor (GPM) Mission and Landsat Data Continuity Mission (LDCM).

Aeronautics Mission Directorate: Several procurements are still on schedule for award in December, including the Low Nitrogen Oxide (NOx) Combustor Technologies NRA, and additional NRA proposals are also due during December.

Cross-Agency Support for Hurricane Damage Repair Projects at the Johnson Space Center (JSC): JSC intends to complete Bldg 2 South carpet work package by the end of December, and expects the final 8(a) sole-source contract issuance for barge dock safing work in mid-January.

Exploration Mission Directorate: Several procurements are planned in December, including outrigging for the Stennis Space Center (SSC) A-3 test stand and Launch Complex 40 activities at the Kennedy Space Center (KSC). Space Act Agreements (SSAs) for the Commercial Crew Development are planned for award in mid-December, and WFF final HIF awards are anticipated in early January.

NASA Office of Inspector General Audits: The NASA Management Office (NMO) at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) is preparing for an OIG audit in January.
