Major Completed Actions

NASA is conducting lessons learned for future contract and cooperative agreement awardees quarterly Recipient Reporting submissions, and agency review process. These lessons will be factored into the process for the review of the FY2010 first quarter report.

Science Mission Directorate: Awards include new tasks for the Earth System Science Pathfinder Venture Class missions, additional tasks for the ICESat II project, and an additional Small Business Innovative Research (SBIR) contract.

Aeronautics Mission Directorate: Awards include new tasks on the NexGen Concepts and Technology Development project.

Cross-Agency Support for Hurricane Damage Repair Projects at the Johnson Space Center (JSC): JSC revised contract specifications to the contractor for the precast exposed aggregate faced (PEAF) Panel Waterproofing work package to address the presence of PCBs discovered in the caulking that is to be removed.

Exploration Mission Directorate: Proposal evaluations are continuing for the Commercial Crew Development (CCDev) Space Act Agreements.

NASA Office of Inspector General Audits: The NASA Office of Inspector General concluded audits at the Langley Research (LaRC) and the Goddard Space Flight Centers (GSFC), on multiple contract modifications, awarded with Recovery funds.

Planned Actions

NASA intends to continue soliciting for Science, Exploration, and Aeronautics contracts and grant proposals in accordance with applicable Program Plans, and then start work on projects in accordance with Recovery Act provisions.

Science Mission Directorate: Several procurements are still on schedule for award in November and December for Earth Science missions, including for the Global Precipitation Monitor (GPM) Mission and Landsat Data Continuity Mission (LDCM).

Aeronautics Mission Directorate: Several procurements are still on schedule for award in November and December.

Cross-Agency Support for Hurricane Damage Repair Projects at the Johnson Space Center (JSC): JSC intends to issue the final 8(a) sole-source contract in December for barge dock safing work.

Exploration Mission Directorate: Several procurements are planned in November and December, including outrigging for the Stennis Space Center (SSC) A-3 test stand and Launch Complex 40 activities at the Kennedy Space Center (KSC).

NASA Office of Inspector General Audits: The OIG will conduct audits on multiple contracts and the first cooperative agreement awarded, at the Ames Research Center in December. The NASA Management Office (NMO) at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) is preparing for an OIG audit in January.
