NASA Spinoff Public Service Announcements (PSAs)

In the early 1980s, the U.S. Space Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to educating the public about the importance of space exploration, created a series of public service announcements (PSAs) to inform people about the many tangible benefits of NASA’s space program. These benefits reach all facets of everyday life, from advanced medical imaging to improved weather forecasting, and the cast of supporters they found to promote these benefits was just as varied, from presidents to comedians. The politicians and celebrities in these videos represent a wide range of industries and interests, but the common theme that brings them together is a belief in the importance of a robust program of space exploration and the benefits that come from such an investment.
Celebrities and legends highlight some of the technologies that have come about as a result of the Nation's aerospace investments. These technology benefits pervade our lives, invisible yet critical to so many aspects of our daily activities and well-being.
