Mast-Typical Truss”. The sketch consists of three equally sized
rectangular blocks attached together side-by-side, the sides of
blocks are the longerons of the truss.  Blocks are labeled Bay 1,
Bay 2 and Bay 3, respectively from left (the supported side) to
right (the free end). One diagonal line is drawn on each face between
two opposing corners; these are the battens of the truss.  The figure
is a free-body diagram of the truss, which identifies the total length
(24 feet) of the truss, the height (6 feet), width (8 feet), and depth
(5 feet) of each block, and loads (vertical loads in the negative z
direction, longitudinal loads in the positive y direction, and
coupling loads in the negative x direction) and moment vectors (end
moments counter clock wise around the members that parallel the y axis)
acting on the truss.
