Ms. Schmoll is the Vice President for Finance and Administration at the University Corporation for Atmospheric Research in Boulder, Colorado. She is the Chief Financial Officer for the corporation and is responsible for all financial, contractual, human resources, facilities management and services, and safety and physical security functions of the corporation. Katy is also the UCAR Ethics Officer.

From 1993 to 1997, Katy was the Comptroller for the Environmental Protection Agency, also serving as liaison to the Congressional Appropriations Committees, the Office of Management and Budget and the General Accounting Office. From 1987 to 1993, Katy was the Assistant Associate Administrator in the NASA Headquarters Office of Space Science and Applications. Prior to that, Katy was the Acting Director of the Microgravity Science and Applications Division. She also held a number of other positions in NASA.

Katy has a B.S. in Public Administration from Indiana University and is a graduate of the Harvard Business School Advanced Management Program. Awards include the William Jump award for outstanding public service, the NASA Outstanding Leadership Medal, the Presidential Rank of Meritorious Executive, the Outstanding Achievement Award from Women in Aerospace, the Distinguished Alumnus Award from the Indiana University School of Public and Environmental Affairs, and the Spirit of the Community Award from the YWCA of Boulder, Colorado. She has served on Boards of Directors for several Boulder area non-profits.
