NASA Administrator's Fellowship Project
[Faculty Higher Education]
[Available: Nationally]
The NASA Administrator's Fellowship Project, or NAFP, enhances the professional development of NASA employees and faculty from minority institutions, or MIs, and builds and strengthens the science, technology, engineering and mathematics, or STEM, infrastructure of MIs. NASA employee fellows teach and/or conduct research at MIs and participate in professional development assignments at NASA Headquarters, NASA centers, NASA-related research organizations, other government agencies or in the private sector. MI faculty fellows conduct research at a NASA center for one year at no cost to the institution.
All NAFP fellows engage in a comprehensive, integrated professional development curriculum to equip them with the necessary skills to become progressive agents of change in their organizations and institutions. The curriculum instills knowledge and teaches skills in leadership development, effective communication, strategic thinking and planning, STEM education policy and review, effective proposal writing, project management, and federal and state relations. By understanding the best practices in STEM disciplines as manifested through the ongoing policy enactment, research, and development in those disciplines, the NAFP fellows are prepared to act as leaders and agents of change.
