The Education Associates project is a hands-on flexible internship project to meet NASA's core workforce needs in science, engineering, mathematics and technology. Education Associates is self-sustaining, mentor-based and designed to provide NASA with workforce solutions and to provide university students and faculty with experiential learning opportunities in the space sciences, engineering, science administration and related fields. The project supports NASA's science education and training missions and addresses the national need to develop a cadre of trained professionals with competencies in a wide variety of aerospace and related technical disciplines. EAP provides NASA with a diverse population of interns from a wide variety of backgrounds and disciplines, as well as more experienced postdoctoral and faculty fellows in support of NASA's varied scientific projects and missions. The Universities Space Research Association was appointed administration in April of 2009.
