[Educators and Students Grades K-Higher Education]
[Available: Nationally]
NASA's Digital Learning Network™ is about connecting with the next generation
of Explorers. Free, interactive programs allow educators and students to learn more about our home planet and the universe beyond through video-conferencing and webcasts. Students of all ages can participate in live events featuring NASA experts and education specialists. The DLN assists in the fulfillment of NASA's demanding mission,
"to inspire the next generation of explorers," by sharing the knowledge and
expertise of NASA scientists, engineers, and researchers with students in today's
classrooms. Through the DLN, learners at all levels have the opportunity to
interact directly with NASA experts, often from their workplace, to gain a new
appreciation for the importance of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics
education.
The goal of the DLN is to enhance NASA's capability to deliver unique content
by linking students and educators with NASA experts. The DLN offers videoconferencing
or Webcasting at no charge, providing interactive educational experiences to
students and educators from kindergarten to university levels across the Nation
and around the world.
Two-way audio/video videoconferencing systems that are either H.320 or H.323
standards based are compatible with NASA's DLN. One computer with Internet
connectivity and an optional projection device or a computer lab and Internet
connectivity are necessary for participation in a Webcast; student interaction
is possible via chat forum or e-mail.
