- Return to Flight:
--On April 4-7, Johnson Space Center hosts Return To Flight Previews that includes media briefings, interviews, and demonstrations.
--On April 5, Marshall Space Flight Center will have a Shuttle Main Engine Level 33 Flight Readiness Review.
- International Space Station:
On April 4-8, the Stafford/Anfimov Task Force meets at the Johnson Space Center to discuss Expedition 11, scheduled for launch on April 15, and future U.S.-Russia cooperation.
- Exploration Systems:
--On April 4-7, a model of the James Web Space Telescope will be on display at the National Space Symposium in Colorado Springs. The large, infrared-optimized space telescope is under development and is scheduled for launch in August 2011. It will study the earliest galaxies and some of the first stars formed after the Big Bang.
--On April 6-7, a NASA delegation led by Mars Program Director Dr. Fuk K. Li will attend the ESA Aurora Science Workshop, Birmingham, U.K. The NASA team will speak on robotic missions for Mars exploration and a Mars Sample Return mission.
- Education Activities:
--On April 5, at the Year of Physics Conference hosted by the Science and Technology Directorate at Marshall, science students join physicists and Nobel Prize winners for discussion of the challenges of physics.
--On April 7, the Director of the Stennis Space Center, Thomas Donaldson, speaks at University of Southern Mississippi–Gulf Park regarding science and technology opportunities and the number of students pursuing these degrees.
--On April 7, Marshall Space Flight Center Deputy Director Charles Chitwood speaks to industry, government, and academic professionals about Future Exploration Spiral Propulsion at the Advanced Space Propulsion Workshop at the University of Alabama.
--Glenn Research Center hosts students participating in the Cleveland Browns’ Creating Executive Opportunities Program. The program includes a tour of the center, meetings with senior managers, and lunch with Glenn Director Julian Earls.
--NASA's 12th Annual Great Moonbuggy Race takes place in Huntsville, Ala. on April 18-19. Marshall hosts high school and college teams from 20 states, Puerto Rico, and Germany. Students design, manufacture, build, and race human-powered moonbuggies across lunar-like terrain.
--Johnson Space Center participates in the Houston Hispanic Forum’s 19th annual career and education day on April 8.
- Center Activities:
--The NASA History Office hosts a NASA History Review at the Johnson Space Center for Center historians April 5-7.
--On April 6, the Glenn Research Center hosts ExPO--An Exploration of Partnership Opportunities. The ExPO includes businesses and academic institutions.
