This image, taken on Nov. 10, 2010, aboard the IceBridge DC-8 flight mapping the Earth’s polar regions, shows a Transantarctic mountain glacier. This year’s IceBridge campaign is to map Earth’s South Polar regions and is part of a six-year NASA mission-the largest airborne survey of Earth’s polar ice ever flown. It is intended to yield a three-dimensional view of Arctic and Antarctic ice sheets, ice shelves and sea ice and provide a yearly, multi-instrument look at the behavior of the rapidly changing features of the Greenland and Antarctic ice.Image Credit: Credit: NASA/Sarah DeWitt
