BIOGRAPHY
Nick Cummings

Operations Engineer
International Space Station/Payload Processing Directorate
Integration Management and Operations Division, NASA
Kennedy Space Center, Florida


Nick Cummings is an operations manager in the Integration Management and Operations Division of the International Space Stations (ISS) and Payloads Processing Directorate at Kennedy Space Center. As an operations manager, his responsibilities include oversight of payload processing tasks and scheduling, and ensuring that resources are in place to support payload processing activities. He worked the recent Hubble Space Telescope Servicing Mission (STS-109), and is currently working on several ISS assembly missions as well as the upcoming STS-107 SpaceHab/FREESTAR mission, which is scheduled for launch in July, 2002.

Cummings received his Bachelor of Science degree in Aerospace Engineering from Virginia Tech, where he specialized in spacecraft design. While in school, he worked for a year as a co-op at a Honeywell Aerospace (formerly Allied Signal) gas turbine repair and overhaul facility in Greer, South Carolina. During his time with Honeywell, he was involved in several continuous improvement initiatives, including lean manufacturing, six sigma and e-business.

Nick Cummings was born in Camp Lejune, North Carolina but was raised in various places throughout the world, including Okinawa in Japan, Hawaii, North Carolina and Virginia.
