Brief Summary


The Education Payloads Operation for the education consists of various activities which attract attention concerning Japanese manned space flight activities, and to gain support from the Japanese community regarding future manned space exploration.

(JAXA EPO10/BLUE EARTH GAZING)
BLUE EARTH GAZING was inspired by OTSUKIMI which is a Japanese traditional custom to see the moon. Japanese people enjoy the moon vewing in their own way; for example, the way to see the reflected images of the moon on the surface of a river. BLUE EARTH GAZING will see the earth through its reflected images on the surface of the water, and will suggest the new way to enjoy the earth vewing.

JAXA REPORT is an activity to write report in Japanese concerning ISS ordinary life to attract attention for manned space activity to gain support for future manned space exploration from Japanese public.
(JAXA EPO 10/Try Zero-G)
The purpose of JAXA EPO Try Zero-G Experiment is to enhance public’s interest in physical phenomena in Space. The experiment themes are spin body, exercise, fold clothes and other simple activities. These experiments appearance is recorded with the G1 Camcorder and down-linked for the purpose of science study.

This activity is to shoot the educational activity demonstoration in space, etc. These experiment appearance is recorded with the G1 Camcorder and down-linked for the purpose of science study.
(JAXA EPO 10 / VIDEO)
This activity is to shoot ISS tour, introduction of Kiboexperiments, life in space, etc. to show life in space for children and public to have their support for manned-space exploration.

    Experiment Description

    Research Overview

    • The JAXA EPO allows the Japanese community the opportunity to interact with ISS crewmembers through various activities for educational purposes.


    • These activities help to enlighten the general public about microgravity utilization and human space flight via crewmember performances of on-orbit demonstrations exhibiting that microgravity is useful not only for scientists and engineers, but also for writers, poets, teachers, artists, etc.

    JAXA Education Payload Observation (EPO) includes artistic experiments and cultural activities. JAXA implements these activities to enlighten the general public about microgravity utilization and human space flight. JAXA understands that ISS/JEM is useful not only for scientists and engineers but also for writers, poets, teachers, artists, etc.

    Operations

    Operational Requirements

    During the experiment, JEM internal camera is required to support the experiment from ground. In order to protect Principal Investigators' idea and copy rights, any still images and video including JEM Internal camera, which are taken during the experiment, must be proprieatry.

    Operational Protocols

    The experiment is recorded by G1 and will the recorded tapes will be retreaved to the ground.

    Results/More Information

    Since JAXA EPO is one time only mission, there is no on-orbit sessions has be done. Six month after the experiment, Principal Investigators will make his/her work of art and exhibit them at such as museum.
