Experiment/Payload Overview

Information provided courtesy of the Energia website.
Brief Summary

Cardio-ODNT (Cardio-Lower Body Negative Pressure) is a medical investigationdesigned to determine the condition of the cardiovascular system in the lower extremities. Cardio-ODNT uses a pneumatic-vacuum suit to produce a negative pressure to the extremities while physical load is being produced by the cosmonaut.

    Operations

    Operational Requirements

Gamma-1M hardware to record electrocardiogram, arterial pressure, rheograms of different vessel areas including rheoencephalograms, Chibis pneumatic-vacuum suit to perform a test physical load when producing a negative pressure (from 10 to 60 mm Hg) to the lower part of the cosmonaut's body.

    Operational Protocols

Investigation of responses of big and small circles of blood circulation when negative pressure affects the lower part of the body and the dependence of these responses on the initial status of the cardiovascular system.
