L-3 Days - Tuesday, Nov. 11

10 a.m. - Countdown Status Briefing

4 p.m. – STS-126 crew arrival at Shuttle Landing Facility

10 p.m. - Launch countdown officially begins (not on NASA TV)

L-2 Days - Wednesday, Nov. 12

11 a.m. (no earlier than) – Prelaunch News Conference
- LeRoy Cain, chair, Mission Management Team
- Mike Leinbach, shuttle launch director
- Kathy Winters, shuttle weather office

1 p.m. – Constellation Tour (not on NASA TV)

L-1 Day – Thursday, Nov. 13

10 a.m. - Countdown Status Briefing

11:30 a.m. - STS-126 Web cast on NASA TV

11:30 p.m. - Rotating Service Structure moves to launch position

Launch Day - Friday, Nov. 14

2:30 p.m. - Live launch commentary begins

11 a.m. -- Crew wakes up (not on NASA TV)
3:25 p.m. -- Weather briefing (commander, pilot & mission specialist 2) (not on NASA TV)
3:35 p.m. -- Astronauts don flight suits
4:05 p.m. -- Depart for launch pad
4:35 p.m. -- Arrive at White Room and begin ingress
5:50 p.m. -- Close crew hatch
7:55 p.m. -- Launch

Tuesday, Nov. 11 --- (Launch minus 3 days) --- 8 a.m. - 7 p.m.
Wednesday, Nov. 12 --- (Launch minus 2 days) --- 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.
Thursday, Nov. 13 --- (Launch minus 1 day) --- 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.
Friday, Nov. 14 --- (Launch) Flight day 1 --- 8 a.m. - 11 p.m.
Nov. 15 – Nov. 28 --- Flight days 2 -15 --- 8 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. (except weekends and Thanksgiving)
Saturday, Nov. 29 --- (Landing) Flight day 16 --- 8 a.m. – 9 p.m.

Complimentary wireless service provided by NORTEL may not be available. News media should be prepared to secure their own service by contacting AT&T, have their own cell phone or air card for their laptop.

Media Badging Schedule

News media may obtain STS-126 mission credentials from the press accreditation building on State Road 3 (across from the Air Liquide plant). Office hours of operation are listed below.

Monday, Nov. 10 --- 12 9.m. – 4 p.m.
Tuesday, Nov. 11 --- 8 a.m. – 3 p.m.
Wednesday, Nov. 12 --- 8 a.m. – 4 p.m.
Thursday, Nov. 13 --- 6 a.m. - 4 p.m.
Friday, Nov. 14 --- 8 a.m. - 6 p.m.
Saturday, Nov. 29 --- 8 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.

News media are required to be escorted by NASA Public Affairs at all times while at Kennedy Space Center, except when at the news center or the Complex 39 cafeteria. No photography is allowed anywhere other than the press site unless prior permission is granted by NASA Public Affairs. News media are allowed at the press site only when public affairs personnel are on duty and the NASA news center is open.
