This image, taken with the Wide Angle Camera (WAC), shows a portion of Copland crater and its ejecta blanket. Copland crater is flooded with volcanic material, giving it a smooth appearance. The crater was named for Aaron Copland, the 20th century American composer and conductor whose ballet score Appalachian Spring popularized the Shaker melody Simple Gifts.
