Meet Dr. Gail Skofronick Jackson: Physical Scientist
06.01.06

Dr. Jackson has an intense interest in the ice found in hurricane systems
and has developed methods to measure the amount and sizes of ice particles
above the melting layer. The cloud ice in hurricane systems can help
predict changes in hurricane intensity. Also, ice particles typically fall
out as rain and affect surface accumulation totals and flooding. During
the winter, non-hurricane season, Dr. Jackson uses her research methods to
characterize the ice particles in winter blizzards and falling snow
events.
Dr. Gail Skofronick Jackson is currently a physical scientist at NASA
Goddard Space Flight Center and has authored more than 15 professional
papers.
