Fires in New South Wales, SE Australia, Tasmania
NASA's Aqua satellite captured and image of fires burning in New South Wales, Australia, and in parts of the island of Tasmania on April 8 at 04:10 UTC. The fires appear as red dots in this image, taken by the Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS), an instrument that flies aboard NASA’s Aqua satellite.
The New South Wales Rural Fire Service (NSW RFS) in southeastern Australia responds to a range of incidents across the State and noted on April 8 there were a number of fires burning. According to the NWS RFS website, there was a grass fire reported 6 miles (10 kilometers) north of Harden near Griffins, that was under control. The Brushwood Road Grassfire 9 miles (15 kilometers) southeast of Ganmain was also reported under control. The Sandbank bushfire was burning 18 miles (30 kilometers) north of Coonabarabran, and was also reported under control by the NSW RFS as was the Bendick Murrell State Forest grass fire.
