High Schools United With NASA to Create Hardware (HUNCH) Team Recognition Day The High Schools United with NASA to Create Hardware, or HUNCH, project provides work experiences to inspire high school career technology and engineering academy students to pursue careers in science and engineering fields. HUNCH is a collaborative effort among NASA Space Operations and Exploration Systems mission directorates and Marshall Space Flight Center's Academic Affairs, Training and Crew Operations, and Ares Project offices. The students were challenged to meet NASA’s work requirements as they coordinated to plan, design, and model hardware for the Ares I upper stage and J-2X engine. Students teams attended a recognition ceremony at Marshall Space Flight Center on June 8, 2009 to celebrate their accomplishments.
Exploring the Future Workshop Educators from around the state of Alabama attended the Exploring the Future Workshop at the University of Alabama in Huntsville on June 9, 2009. The teachers were treated to a presentation about NASA’s newest launch vehicles, the Ares I and V.
Educators Attend Space Academy, Learn About Ares Educators attend Space Academy at the U.S. Space and Rocket Center while on their summer breaks. During their week at Space Academy, the educators were introduced to the Ares Projects and discussed ways to share NASA's new launch vehicles with their class.

Providence Students Need Their 'Space' December 15, 2008: Sixth grade students at Providence School celebrated "Space" on December 15, 2008. Students were introduced to the Ares Project as they learned they could someday walk on the moon or Mars.
Osher Lifelong Learners Are a Blast! September 2008: Members of the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at the University of Alabama at Huntsville visited with Bob Armstrong to hear the Constellation/Ares story. A group of Marshall Space Flight Center employees also joined the audience to hear the presentation.
Students at Mountain Gap Shoot for the Moon September 25, 2008: The Ares Project Office participated in Science Fun Day at Mountain Gap Elementary. Students participated in dozens of hands-on science activities. They especially enjoyed the straw rocket launchers that the Ares Project Office brought to the event. Ridgecrest Students Have a Blast September 19, 2008: Fourth grade students at Ridgecrest Elementary had a blast launching straw rockets and learning about NASA's new launch vehicles, the Ares I and Ares V. The students had fun discussing careers at NASA and there are even some future astronauts at Ridgecrest Elementary.
West Mastin Lake Students Become Engineers September 2008: Fourth grade students at West Mastin Lake Elementary in Huntsville, AL were excited to hear about NASA's mission to return to the Moon. Students learned all about the Ares I and the Ares V launch vehicles. They also became engineers as they launched straw rockets making sure the angle and force were accurate.

Arab Students Are Out of This World! August 2008: Sixth grade students at Arab Junior High School learned all about NASA’s mission to return to the Moon. The students examined models of the Ares I and the Ares V as they compared the hardware to the Saturn V.
Morris Elementary Activities Fourth grade students at Morris Elementary School in Huntsville, Alabama enjoyed hearing the Ares/Constellation story and participating in a straw rocket activity in August 2008.
Space Camp 2008 The Ares Project Integration Team shared the Constellation/Ares story with 607 teachers that attending Space Camp in Summer 2008.
University Student Launch Initiative In April 2008, students from 11 different universities came to Marshall Space Flight Center to hear the Ares/Constellation story before launching their rockets the next day at the University Student Launch Initiative.
North Carolina Teachers Tour Marshall In March 2008, 28 teachers from North Carolina took a tour of Marshall Space Flight Center and participated in the launch of the Ares I model rocket.
National Science Teachers Association Southern Area Conference The APO education team presented an activity from "Engineering Design Challenge: Thermal Protection Systems" at the National Science Teachers Association Southern Area Conference in Birmingham, AL.
