    High Schools United with NASA to Create Hardware, or HUNCH High Schools United With NASA to Create Hardware (HUNCH) Team Recognition Day
    The High Schools United with NASA to Create Hardware, or HUNCH, project provides work experiences to inspire high school career technology and engineering academy students to pursue careers in science and engineering fields. HUNCH is a collaborative effort among NASA Space Operations and Exploration Systems mission directorates and Marshall Space Flight Center's Academic Affairs, Training and Crew Operations, and Ares Project offices. The students were challenged to meet NASA’s work requirements as they coordinated to plan, design, and model hardware for the Ares I upper stage and J-2X engine. Students teams attended a recognition ceremony at Marshall Space Flight Center on June 8, 2009 to celebrate their accomplishments.

    Educators attend Space Academy at the U.S. Space and Rocket Center while on their summer breaks. During their week at Space Academy, the educators were introduced to the Ares Projects and discussed ways to share NASA's new launch vehicles with their class.

    September 2008: Members of the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at the University of Alabama at Huntsville visited with Bob Armstrong to hear the Constellation/Ares story. A group of Marshall Space Flight Center employees also joined the audience to hear the presentation.

    September 25, 2008: The Ares Project Office participated in Science Fun Day at Mountain Gap Elementary. Students participated in dozens of hands-on science activities.     September 19, 2008: Fourth grade students at Ridgecrest Elementary had a blast launching straw rockets and learning about NASA's new launch vehicles, the Ares I and Ares V. The students had fun discussing careers at NASA and there are even some future astronauts at Ridgecrest Elementary.

    September 2008: Fourth grade students at West Mastin Lake Elementary in Huntsville, AL were excited to hear about NASA's mission to return to the Moon. Students learned all about the Ares I and the Ares V launch vehicles. They also became engineers as they launched straw rockets making sure the angle and force were accurate.

    The Ares Project Integration Team shared the Constellation/Ares story with 607 teachers that attending Space Camp in Summer 2008.

    In April 2008, students from 11 different universities came to Marshall Space Flight Center to hear the Ares/Constellation story before launching their rockets the next day at the University Student Launch Initiative.
