The CALIPSO spacecraft was shipped from the Alcatel facilities in Toulouse, France, to Vandenberg Air Force Base in Lompoc, Calif., on May 20, 2005. The satellite was shipped in a heavy-duty shipping container that is seen in this photograph as it is being unloaded from the aircraft.
