John Calvert is the Mission Integration Manager (MIM) for NASA's CALIPSO and CloudSat missions. He and the Mission Integration Team (MIT) are tasked by the KSC Launch Services Program with the responsibility of managing all the launch services integration and launch vehicle engineering aspects of the CALIPSO/CloudSat mission.
John was born in Pittsburgh, PA but spent his "formative" years in Clearwater, Florida, where he graduated from Countryside High School in 1987. He earned a BS in Mechanical Engineering from the University of South Florida (Tampa) in 1992 and received his MS in Engineering Management from the University of Central Florida (Orlando) in 1996. John joined the NASA team at the Kennedy Space Center in 1990 as a Cooperative Education Student while attending USF.
Prior to joining the Launch Services Program in 1999, John was assigned to the Joint Performance Management Office (JPMO), and served as a Mechanical Systems Engineer responsible for facility systems in the areas of heating, ventilating, and air conditioning (HVAC), fire suppression, and water distribution and wastewater treatment.
John and his wife Barbra live in Merritt Island where they raise their son Timothy. John enjoys his time away from work golfing, fishing, and playing poker.
