Tammy Harrington is the Mission Integration Manager for NASA's Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter (MRO) mission. As leader of the Mission Integration Team, she is responsible for managing overall launch services integration and vehicle engineering of the MRO mission. This effort will be the first that NASA/KSC's Launch Services Program will support on an Atlas V launch vehicle.

Originally from Indiana, Harrington received her Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics from the University of Maryland and her Master of Science degree in Applied Mathematics from Johns Hopkins University.

She began her career with NASA in 1985 as an Aerospace Engineer at the Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, Md. Her specialty was in the area of satellite orbit operations, where she provided maneuver guidance for major space flight projects such as:
  • Advanced Composition Explorer (ACE)
  • Extreme Ultraviolet Explorer (EUVE)
  • X-Ray Timing Explorer (XTE)
  • Compton Gamma Ray Observatory (CGRO)
  • Tracking and Data Relay Satellites -4 and -5 (TDRSS)
  • National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration –I and –J (NOAA)

    Harrington joined the Kennedy Space Center in 1998 and currently manages future missions including GOES, WISE/ST-8 and Mars Telecom Orbiter, in addition to her current MRO efforts.

    In 1997 she received a NASA Exceptional Achievement Award for her work on the Compton Gamma Ray Observatory and in 2003 was the recipient of a NASA Gold Dollar Award and a NASA Group Achievement Award for the Launch Services Procurement for MRO.

    In her spare time, she enjoys spending time at the beach and is an avid fantasy football player each NFL season. She has been married for 20 years to her husband, Jim, and has one son, Brian, who lives in Baltimore.
