Two Missions, One Destination

NASA is returning to our moon with the Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter (LRO) and Lunar Crater Observation and Sensing Satellite (LCROSS). Launching together aboard a powerful Atlas V rocket, these two spacecraft seek to confirm the existence of water ice and other resources in addition to creating a new, comprehensive map of our nearest neighbor in space. These missions set the stage for future visits from human explorers.
