The Glory spacecraft launched March 4, 2011 at 5:09:43 a.m. EST aboard an Orbital Sciences Taurus XL rocket from Vandenberg Air Force Base, Calif. Telemetry indicated the fairing, the protective shell atop the rocket, did not separate as expected and the spacecraft was unable to reach orbit.
