The GOES-O weather satellite lifted off at 6:51 p.m. EDT aboard a Delta IV rocket on June 27, 2009, to become the next state-of-the-art meteorological spacecraft to takes its place above Earth. NASA's Launch Blog followed the countdown from inside NASA's Mission Director's Center at Cape Canaveral Air Force Station in Florida near Launch Pad 37.
