Siberian Smoke Drifts Across Russia to the Sea of Okhotsk

Smoke over the Sea of Okhotsk and parts of Russia
Siberian fires have devastated eastern Russia this fire season. The smoke causes problems after the fact as it drifts eastward.

NASA’s Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) instrument on the Terra satellite captured this image of the smoke drifting eastward from the devastating Siberian fires that have broken out all over Eastern Russia. In this image, the smoke is drifting over the Sakhalin Island and on across the Sea of Okhotsk. This natural-color image was collected on July 20, 2015.
