The Martin fire is 57 miles long and 31 miles wide–a total of 439, 230 acres. It is the biggest fire in the United States right now and is and 48% contained. Because the fire is so large it has been divided into two zones which are being fought by two different teams. Between the two zones there are 635 personnel. The fire started on July 05 and has grown to this size in less than a week.
The Martin fire continues to be active due to high temperatures, low humidity and winds. It was active within the perimeter however firefighters continue to make great strides in containing the fire and increasing the containment line day by day. Weather concerns are expected to continue through the week with hot, dry conditions and winds.
