Fires season appears to be in full swing in northern Saskatchewan and the southern area of Northwestern Territories, Canada.
The Suomi NPP satellite’s Visible Infrared Imaging Radiometer Suite (VIIRS) instrument identified smoke and heat from many wildfires as it passed overhead on July 2, 2016 at 20:00 UTC (4:00 p.m. EDT). In the image the red area indicate hotspots and the location of the fires. Suomi NPP is managed by NASA, NOAA and the U.S. Department of Defense.
