Upcoming Media Opportunity: Future of Aerospace

     
Reporters will have an opportunity to interview aerospace 
leaders March 26 following a technical symposium, "Grand 
Visions of Aerospace -- The Next 30 Years." The symposium 
will examine the challenges and possibilities for 
revolutionary advances to affect the direction of 
aeronautical and space development for the next three 
decades. The symposium is the second of two activities hosted 
by the NASA Institute for Advanced Concepts. The other 
activity, the Institute's first annual meeting March 25, will 
showcase topics from advanced transportation and propulsion 
systems to revolutionary systems for exploring planets and 
the cosmos. Both sessions are open to the public, and 
reporters are invited to attend. The activities, including 
the press availability March 26, will take place at NASA 
Headquarters in Washington, DC. Registration is at 8 a.m. 
both days, and the sessions start at 8:30 a.m.

Upcoming Live Event: Space Exploration at the Millennium

March 24, 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. EST and 2 p.m. to 10 p.m. 
EST, American University via NASA Headquarters, Washington, 
D.C.

Renowned panelists -- including Homer Hickam, the subject of 
the new movie, "October Sky," --  will debate humanity's 
destiny in the cosmos and see a controversial meteorite 
containing evidence of possible life on Mars at the "Space 
Exploration at the Millennium" symposium. In remembrance of 
Carl Sagan and as part of NASA's 40th anniversary 
celebration, the event will include a variety of panel 
discussions. Former and current astronauts will explore the 
risks and rewards of human exploration, and director of the 
Planetary Society Lou Friedman and Ann Druyan, wife of the 
late Carl Sagan, will talk about his legacy.  NASA 
Administrator Daniel S. Goldin will be on an evening panel 
addressing space exploration for a new generation.
