Johnsen Dryden Flight Research Center, Edwards, CA (Phone: 661/276-2998) RELEASE: C01-g ENGINEERING AND TECHNICAL SUPPORT CONTRACT AWARDED NASA's Dryden Flight Research Center, Edwards, CA, today announced the award of an Engineering and Technical Support (ETS) contract to the McDonnell Douglas Corp., St. Louis, MO, a wholly owned subsidiary of The Boeing Co. The ETS contract, worth up to $35 million, provides for the engineering, technical support, and other technical services for Dryden's two F/A-18 research aircraft, F-15 research aircraft, several F/A-18 mission support aircraft, and a planned U.S. Air Force C-17 test aircraft. Technical assistance includes reviewing planned aircraft modifications, design support for unique aircraft systems, and assistance for Dryden-performed analysis. In addition, technical assistance may also include modifications to control-systems hardware and software, other aircraft modifications, and the fabrication of experimental hardware. Dryden may also require research studies using Boeing-developed models and simulators related to Boeing aircraft.
