NASA Science Chief to Reveal Cassini Plans; Discuss Programs

WASHINGTON - Alan Stern, associate administrator for the Science Mission Directorate at NASA Headquarters in Washington, will host a media teleconference at 1 p.m. EDT, Wednesday, Aug. 1. Stern will discuss plans for NASA's Cassini mission to make an unusually close encounter with Saturn's geyser-moon Enceladus and provide project updates for a variety of science flight programs. Planetary and astrophysics program developments also will be discussed.

Briefing participants also will include:

- James Green, director, Planetary Division, Headquarters
- Jon Morse, director, Astrophysics Division, Headquarters

Media interested in participating in the teleconference should call 888-577-8992. International media should call 630-395-0359. The passcode is "science."
