NASA'S CloudSat and CALIPSO Launch Rescheduled

The launch of NASA's CloudSat and CALIPSO (Cloud-Aerosol Lidar and Infrared Pathfinder Satellite Observations) satellites is rescheduled for Saturday, April 22. Launch is set for 6:02 a.m. EDT from Vandenberg Air Force Base, Calif. Launch commentary on NASA TV starts at 4 a.m. EDT.

Today's launch was scrubbed at T-48 seconds due to loss of the primary and backup phone communications between the Mission Directors Center at Vandenberg and the Centre National d'Etudes Spatiales Space Command in Toulouse, France. The communications loss is being evaluated.

Media covering the launch on Saturday should meet at the Vandenberg main gate at 5 a.m. EDT (2 a.m. PDT) for escort to the press site. Media needing accreditation for launch should call Staff Sgt. Allen Puckett at (805) 606-3595 at the 30th Space Wing Public Affairs Office.

A recorded CloudSat and CALIPSO launch status update is available at: (805) 734-2693.
