Stafford-Covey Task Group Announces Next Public Meeting

The Stafford-Covey Return to Flight Task Group will conduct a public meeting by telephone conference at Noon EST, Thursday, Feb. 17. It will be followed by a media teleconference.

The public can listen to the teleconference from the Apollo Annex, 1740 NASA Parkway, Houston or on the Internet at:

http://returntoflight.org

The news media can monitor the meeting via a special telephone bridge. Following the meeting, Co-Chairman Richard O. Covey, will be available briefly by telephone at 1:30 p.m. EST to answer questions from the media about the proceedings. For instructions to access the meeting and news conference, media should contact Shannon Bach at: 281/792-7523, by no later than 10 a.m. EST Feb. 17. The media teleconference will also be audiostreamed live on the Internet at:

http://www.nasa.gov/newsaudio

The task group is co-chaired by retired Air Force Lieutenant General and former Apollo Mission Commander Thomas Stafford and Covey, a former Space Shuttle Commander. The task group is chartered to make an independent assessment of NASA's actions to implement the recommendations of the Columbia Accident Investigation Board, as they relate to the safety and operational readiness of the next Space Shuttle flight.
