NASA, Air Force to Address Hurricane Ivan Preparations
Jim Kennedy, director of NASA's Kennedy Space Center (KSC) in Florida, and Brig. Gen. Select Mark Owen, commander of the Air Force's 45th Space Wing, will address the media Saturday on preparations for Hurricane Ivan. The telephone news conference will be held at 10:30 a.m. EDT.
KSC; Cape Canaveral Air Force Station, Fla.; and Patrick Air Force Base, Fla., are working to secure damaged facilities before Ivan's possible arrival. Kennedy and Owen will discuss those activities, as well as the status of space flight hardware, post-Hurricane Ivan plans, and instructions for the work force.
Media who want to participate in the news conference should call Melissa Mathews (202/358-1272) or Allard Beutel (202/358-4769) no later than 5 p.m. EDT Friday.
