NASA Joins Partners To Unveil Climate Change Initiatives

NASA officials will join Department of Commerce Secretary Don Evans and Department of Energy Secretary Spencer Abraham to unveil the Administration’s strategic plan on long-term global climate variability and change at a press conference tomorrow.

The Climate Change Science Program (CCSP), a joint federal program of the President's Committee on Climate Change Science and Technology Integration, developed the new plan. The CCSP is a cooperative effort among 13 government agencies. CCSP is charged with overseeing the Congressionally-mandated U.S. Global Climate Research Program and the Climate Change Research Initiative.

Evans also is expected to announce an additional initiative aimed at improving mankind’s understanding of global climate change and the ability for all nations to participate in the dialogue.

The press conference is Thursday at 10 a.m. at the Department of Commerce in Washington.
