U.S. Navy divers approach a model of Orion, NASA’s next vehicle for human space exploration, in Johnson Space Center’s 40-foot deep Neutral Buoyancy Laboratory (NBL). The Orion capsule will be recovered by the Navy when it lands off the coast of Baja, Calif., next year during its first flight test, Exploration Flight Test-1. NASA engineers have been working with the Navy to develop the procedures their divers will use and test them in the NBL. Additional testing will take place this summer at Naval Station Norfolk in Virginia.
