Additionally, the NASA Social participants will be treated to a special behind-the-scenes session about living and working in space.

The NASA Social will take place in the James E. Webb Memorial Auditorium at NASA Headquarters, 300 E Street, SW, Washington.

Registration for the event will open from 5:30 p.m. EST, Tuesday, Jan. 8 until 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 16. Additional applicants will be able to participate and attend the public open house portions of the event on a space-available basis. The Webb Auditorium holds nearly 200 persons.

What is a NASA Social?
A NASA Social is an informal meeting of people who use social networking sites such as Twitter, Facebook and Google+. Do I need to have a social media account to register?
Yes. This event is designed for active social media users who follow NASA on Twitter (@NASA, @NASASocial), Facebook (NASA) or Google+ (NASA). The goal of NASA Social is to allow people who regularly interact with each other via social networks to meet in person and discuss space exploration.

Users on all social networks are encouraged to use the hashtag#NASASocial. Updates and information about the event will be shared on Twitter via @NASASocial and via posts to Facebook and Google+.
