As a federal agency, NASA must comply with the requirements of Executive Order (EO) 13423. The EO requires each agency to give preference to the purchase of:
Recycled content products
Energy Star® and energy efficient products
Low standby power devices
Biobased products
Environmentally preferable products and services and
Non-ozone depleting substances, as identified in EPA’s Significant New Alternatives Program (SNAP).
WSTF’s goal for Green Acquisition is to increase the purchase of “GREEN" products above and beyond the NASA required reporting minimum. WSTF has instituted protocols in our procurement process to assure that recycled and reused materials are acquired for certain commodities. These requirements are passed on to the many suppliers of commodities for WSTF. In addition, Environmental Department personnel monitor the EPA’s Comprehensive Procurement Guidelines (CPGs) to ensure WSTF will continue exceeding the acquisition standards and consistently “BUY GREEN.”
