Black Brant IX Successfully Launched

A NASA Black Brant IX suborbital sounding rocket was successfully launched at 12:12 a.m., Tuesday, October 30, from the NASA Wallops Flight Facility. The two-stage rocket carried an experiment for the University of Texas - Dallas to investigate mid-latitude ionospheric irregularities associated with terrestrial weather systems.

The rocket was the first of twenty scheduled for launch from sites around the world through the NASA sounding rocket program over the next 12 months.
