The Cosmic Infrared Background ExpeRiment (CIBER) mission was successfully launched from the White Sands Missile Range in New Mexico on Marrch 22, 2012 at 3 a.m. MDT. CIBER, an optical astrophysics payload for the California Institute of Technology, was flown on a NASA two-stage Black Brant IX suborbital sounding rocket (like the rocket pictured).
