MERIDIAN NATIVE HELPING NASA RETURN TO THE MOON

Meridian native Gary Benton, an engineer at NASA's Stennis Space Center in South Mississippi, works at the forefront of rocket engine testing at the center. Benton is SSC's project manager for the developing J-2X engine that will return America to the moon. The engine's core components (shown at right) are now installed on SSC's A-1 Test Stand, and will undergo tests beginning this month.
