NASA STENNIS SPACE CENTER MARKS 40TH ANNIVERSARY OF ROCKET ENGINE TESTING

A space shuttle main engine test conducted April 21, 2006, at NASA Stennis Space Center in South Mississippi marked the 40th anniversary of rocket engine testing at the center. Then called the Mississippi Test Facility, the site conducted its first test on April 23, 1966. That historic test was on a S-II-T, a cluster of five J-2 engines for the second stage of the Saturn V rockets that took America's Apollo missions to the moon.
