STENNIS SPACE CENTER CELEBRATES 40 YEARS OF ROCKET ENGINE TESTING
Mar. 15, 2006

The first static test firing of the S-II stage of the Saturn V moon rocket at NASA's Stennis Space Center (then called the Mississippi Test Facility) began at 7:33 a.m. April 23, 1966. The successful test lasted 15 seconds. This spring, Stennis Space Center is celebrating the 40th anniversary of that first rocket engine test.
