Horizontal Rule

What fees are associated with a FOIA request?

There are no fees associated with downloading a previously released FOIA document.  Fees are only associated with new FOIA requests.

Fees:

Duplication - $.10 / page for standard package, $.15 / page for oversized page, actual cost for disks, tapes, photos, etc.

Search/Review - $9 / hr for non-professional, $18 / hr for professional, $25 / hr for attorney.

(Note:  A fee of less than $5 will not be charged to the requester)

Fee Categories:

  • News media, educational, or non-commercial scientific institutions whose purpose is scholarly or scientific research.  There is no charge for search and review.  Only duplication fees are assessed with the first 100 pages provided at no cost.
  • Commercial use requests generally include information involving profit-making activities.  Commercial use requesters pay all search, review, and duplication fees incurred in processing a request.
  • All other requesters include everyone not covered in the first two groups.  These requesters receive two hours of search, all review, and the first 100 pages at no cost.
