NASA Invites Media to Attend 8th Wernher von Braun Memorial Symposium, Meet with Associate Administrator

NASA’s Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, Alabama, is inviting media to the 8th Wernher von Braun Memorial Symposium Oct. 28-29 at the University of Alabama in Huntsville Chan Auditorium, Business Administration Building.

This year’s theme, “Space Exploration and Discovery: Expanding Human Knowledge,” will focus on benefits, challenges and opportunities in advancing space activities, and highlight recent progress in science, engineering and technology. The event, hosted by the American Astronautical Society, will feature speakers and panelists from government, industry and academia.

NASA speakers and panelists include:

  • Robert Lightfoot, NASA associate administrator at the agency’s headquarters in Washington
  • William Gerstenmaier, associate administrator for the Human Exploration and Operations Mission Directorate in Washington
  • Steve Jurczyk, associate administrator for the Space Technology Mission Directorate in Washington
  • Jim Green, director of NASA’s Planetary Science Division in Washington
  • Bill Hill, assistant deputy associate administrator for Exploration Systems Development in Washington
  • John Honeycutt, Space Launch System program manager at Marshall

At 10:15 a.m. CDT on Wednesday, Oct. 28, Lightfoot will be available to meet with the media at the UAH Business Administration Building, located at 301 Sparkman Drive, to answer questions about NASA’s progress on and plans for its journey to Mars.
